This is a strong region for beginners and improving surfers. Around half the breaks suit newcomers, most of the rest reward intermediates, and only the rare spot demands expert commitment. Forgiving sand bottoms, sensitivity to small swell and generally manageable size make it easy to paddle out and find something rideable when a system lines up. Aim for autumn and winter, when Mediterranean lows are most active and deliver the cleanest windows, then watch for a southeast-to-southwest swell paired with a north wind to catch the region at its best.
