Playa Blanca surf guide

Playa Blanca is located in Puerto del Carmen and is known for its sandy beach, which can be a decent place to catch a wave when the conditions are right. It's essential to note that this spot can be hit or miss when it comes to surfable waves, with the best chances usually during specific wind conditions. Don't confuse it with other beach resorts that are wave-less, as Playa Blanca offers more than just sunbathing.

When it comes to surfing, Playa Blanca is best with an east swell, but it can also handle swells coming from the north and east. The beach is suitable for smaller swell sizes starting from about 1 foot (0.3 meters). The waves tend to break over sand, and you can catch both left and right waves here. Wind from the north is preferred for better conditions, and you can surf during low, mid, or high tides. This spot can be a good option for beginners looking to get some practice in as the waves aren’t too intense most of the time.

It's important to note that there is low consistency at Playa Blanca, which means that when it’s flat, you might not find any surfable waves. Also, when waves are present, the lifeguards may red flag the beach, so it’s a good idea to ask for their permission before you hit the water.
