Overview
Playa Caribe is a north-facing white sand beach break on the main island. Most of the beach throws up small shorebreak, but the eastern end past the island pulls in more swell and holds better shape. It breaks over sand and offers both lefts and rights.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northeast through east, with northeast (NE) the best direction. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and is moderately consistent, so rideable days show up fairly regularly without it firing every session.
Wind and Tide
Look for south (S) offshore wind. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet, so there's room to find your own peaks.
Access
There's free roadside parking nearby. The beach itself gets busy with swimmers and people out at the beach bars.
