Puerto Cruz surf guide

Puerto Cruz is a surf spot known for its right point break that usually works best with the right swell. Sheltered from most east and south winds, it can offer some decent surfing sessions. The setting includes large hotels and golf courses, making it a developed area which you may or may not enjoy while you wait for a wave.

The optimal swell direction here is NorthEast, and the spot can handle swell sizes starting at around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters). The waves break over an uneven reef, creating a bit of a challenge. If you’re intermediate level, you’ll find this spot quite interesting. Waves generally break right, and it’s best to hit it with a SouthEast wind. Whether it’s low, mid, or high tide, Puerto Cruz can dish out some long rides, but be prepared to wait as it can be inconsistent and doesn’t break all the time.

When you do score a session here, it’s worth it for those long rides. Just remember that the waves can take a bit of time to come through, so patience is key. Enjoy your time at Puerto Cruz and keep an eye on the conditions!
