Playa del Dedo is an urban beachbreak just east of Málaga, near El Candado's Port. Locals know it as "El Tintero" after the fish restaurant that fronts the spot. It's a favourite for Málaga surfers who would rather skip the busier, more polluted city breaks at Misericordia and Malagueta.
When It Works
The waves break over sand and peel both left and right. The spot draws swell from east through south to southwest, with southwest swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west offshore wind to clean things up. The beach can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
It's an approachable, mellow beachbreak that suits beginners well.
Access
Head out of Málaga toward La Cala del Moral along the coast road, near El Candado's Port; the fish restaurant "El Tintero" sits right in front of the break. You'll find showers on hand, plus free, paid, and roadside parking nearby.
