Overview
Port-Eynon Point is a punchy right-hander that breaks over uneven reef and sand. The take-off is sucky and the opening section steep before the wave mellows out into deeper water, so the hardest part is getting in early and holding that first section.
When It Works
The point draws swell from south through west (S-W), with southwest (SW) lining it up best. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, so it wants a bit of size before it comes to life. Consistency can be hit and miss, so it pays to be ready when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to groom the faces. It breaks on low and mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
When big swells wrap in, the neighbouring Port Eynon beach picks up small waves that suit beginners. Expect a moderately busy lineup at the point when it's on.
Access
Park in the village and walk south to reach the point. There's free roadside parking, along with restrooms, showers and camping in the village. Lifeguards patrol the beach to the north from May to August.
