Port Hueneme Beach Park (pronounced why-NEE-me) is an average beachbreak on the north side of the pier. The waves break over sand and peel both left and right, but the spot can't handle much size, so it's at its best on smaller, manageable days.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with a west swell the best match. Peaky swells give it the most to work with. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it's moderately consistent, so decent windows come around fairly often.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind to clean it up. Higher water suits this beach best, so aim for mid tide to high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one sits comfortably in intermediate territory. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
