Overview
Porz Théolen is one of the little-known breaks tucked along the north coast of Cap Sizun, a protected stretch of Breton coastline dotted with quiet reefs and beaches. The wave breaks over a mix of uneven reef and sand and peels both left and right, so there's usually a peak to pick off in either direction. The sunken boat here is a handy landmark, and it sits within easy reach of other hidden spots like Pors Péron and Pointe du Millier if you feel like hunting around the bays.
When It Works
The break draws swell from southwest through northwest (SW-NW), with northwest (NW) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, giving you a decent working window from small, playful days up to more substantial surf.
Wind and Tide
Look for south (S) offshore wind to clean up the faces. The spot can work through most of the tide, from low through high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers looking to explore the quieter side of Cap Sizun.
