Overview
Pourville is a boulder beach with several peaks spread west of the rivermouth that bisects it, serving up both lefts and rights. The water runs turbid and milky here, a product of the surrounding limestone cliffs. The shorebreak and the right-hand slab to the east suit bodyboarders best, while the peaks are the main draw for surfers. On those rare, big, glassy days it can switch on and get close to perfect.
When It Works
The break draws swell from west through north to northeast (W-N-NE), with northeast the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, breaking over a mix of boulders and sand. Consistency is moderate, so it pays to time your sessions for when the swell properly lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind to clean things up, though it really comes into its own on a southwest wind. For tide, mid tide is the call, and a rising tide is generally the better window.
Local Tips
