Punta Chulluype is a craggy reef point that peels down both sides, serving up bowly lefts and more open walls on the right. It breaks over an uneven reef, with large rocks sitting right in the lineup.
When It Works
The point draws swell from the west through to the north (W-N), and a northwest (NW) swell is the best match to light up both sides of the reef. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, so there is plenty of range to play with once a swell arrives. Consistency is moderate, meaning you can expect worthwhile windows rather than surf on tap every day.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean up the faces. The reef works on mid to high water, with a rising tide generally the better call. Those big rocks in the lineup make low tide sketchy, especially when the swell is small, so higher water is the safer bet.
Local Tips
This is an expert-level wave. Between the uneven reef, the rocks, and peaks breaking both ways, it rewards surfers who already know how to handle a demanding setup. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it comes to life.
Access
Getting parked is easy, with free roadside parking near the break.
