Overview
Refugee's Lefts is a short, shifty left that breaks over dead coral across the pass. It's a changeable wave that stays interesting when the swell lines up.
When It Works
The reef pulls in swell from southeast through south, and it needs that fairly specific angle to line up, with southeast (SE) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a good fit for intermediate surfers who are comfortable reading a quick, shifting lineup over reef.
