Overview
Rife is a reef break tucked inside a protected bay, where the rights peel lazily down toward the inside channel. The cluster of rocks here is really better suited to wave-sailing, though longboarders can still pick off a few rides. The bay tends to stay smooth, which also makes it a good spot to try kiting.
When It Works
Rife breaks over an uneven reef and draws swell from southwest through north, with southwest swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, and the reef offers both lefts and rights. Consistency is moderate, so it pays to catch it on the right day.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind to groom the faces. The reef works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. The lineup stays quiet, in part because there's usually something better breaking nearby.
