Route des Sanguinaires is a run of reefs and pointbreaks strung along the coast between Ajaccio and Parata point. The best-known peaks line up in front of Chapelle des Grecs, Cimetière and les CRS, and they mostly serve up long right-handers that break with purpose in shallow water over uneven reef. A wide swell window and shelter from northwesterlies give the stretch plenty of ways to turn on.
When It Works
The points draw swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), a broad window that lets the coast pick up energy from several angles. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and the shallow reef holds size well toward the top of that range. Consistency can be patchy, so it pays to time your session for when a swell is genuinely filling in.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind to groom the faces. The points can work across low, mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is intermediate terrain, with shallow reef and long walls that reward confident, committed surfing. Ajaccio sits right on the doorstep, so expect a busy lineup when it's on, and one that can be protective of its waves.
