S-Turns surf guide

S-Turns is a surf spot located between Honokowai and Kahana, nestled among a mix of lava and coral reefs. It's a less crowded alternative to the more well-known spots in the area. While it doesn’t always serve up perfect conditions, it can still deliver some decent waves when you find the right time to paddle out. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the more popular beaches, S-Turns might be worth checking out.

This spot works best with a NorthWest swell direction, but you can also catch waves with NorthEast swells. It handles swell sizes starting from 2ft (about 0.6 meters) and has both left and right wave directions. The waves break over an uneven reef, so keep that in mind if you're heading out. It’s suitable mainly for intermediate surfers, and you’ll have better luck when the wind is coming from the east. S-Turns can work well during low, mid, and high tide, giving you a range of options throughout the day.

Since S-Turns is positioned in a more secluded area, it’s a great spot if you're looking for a quieter surf session. Keep an eye on the conditions before heading out; like many reef breaks, it can shift with the tide and swell. Enjoy the vibe, and make sure to respect the locals while you’re there.
