Sally Ann's Surf Forecast Guide

Sally Ann's is a long, hollow left-hand point just south of the turtle-nesting beach at Playa la Flor. It breaks over a patchwork of uneven reef and sand, and it is strictly a wave for experts.

When It Works

Sally Ann's draws its swell from the south to southwest, and it lines up best out of the southwest (SW). The point is usable from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, though it is an inconsistent break that does not turn on often. It really only comes to life on huge swells and should only be attempted then. Once it is pushing double overhead, rocks litter the break, so pick your days carefully.

Wind and Tide

Look for offshore wind from the southeast (SE). The point works on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

This is an expert-only wave that rewards surfers comfortable on a fast, hollow point. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it is working. Keep in mind that rangers often move surfers along during turtle-nesting season.
