Overview
Sangano is a long left-hand point that peels in front of a large fishing village tucked below the escarpment. It breaks over a mix of boulders and sand across two sandy sections dotted with scattered rocks, and there's usually something fun on offer for most surfers. If you want to explore, more lefts wait to the north.
When It Works
The point draws swell from south through west (S-W), with southwest (SW) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, giving you a wide working range to play with. Consistency is moderate, so you'll find worthwhile windows when the swell lines up rather than surf on demand.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to clean it up, and know that the inside beach section also offers good protection from a south wind. It works at low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Sangano suits intermediate surfers. The lineup tends to stay fairly quiet, so you can usually find room to spread out when it's working.
Access
Growing tourist services mean accommodations and food are available nearby, and there's camping if you want to base yourself close to the break.
