Santa Cruz - Nayarit is a left pointbreak that peels over uneven reef and sand, with boulders lining the base of a jungle-cloaked cliff.
When It Works
It takes a sizeable, pure south or southwest swell to get the point peeling properly. The break draws swell from south to southwest, with south the best match, and works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. When the point is too small to break, the nearby rivermouth is the fallback, though it has a reputation for sharks. Consistency is on the lower side, so it can take some patience to catch it on.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind. The point breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
It suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a fairly quiet lineup when it works. River pollution can get bad, so it is worth keeping in mind.
