Overview
Señoritas is a powerful left-hand point that runs along three sections of rocky reef off the southern headland of the Señoritas/Caballeros bay. The wave has real purpose to it: slabby lips, purposeful walls that march across the line-up in most swells, and the odd tube on offer. The reef underneath is uneven, and the headland gives some shelter from south wind, though not in the classic Peruvian point sense.
When It Works
Swell comes in from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), and west (W) is the direction that lines the point up best. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, so there is plenty of room between a manageable day and a serious one. Consistency is one of the strengths here, and the walls keep marching through most swells rather than only showing up on the rare perfect setup.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind. The point can work through low, mid, and high tide, but an incoming tide is the better call: a few rocks pop up at low tide, so the extra water makes a real difference.
Local Tips
This is a wave for experienced surfers and nobody else. The paddle out is long, the current swirls, and getting caught inside gets punished. Urchins are everywhere, and the rocks are covered in colonies of razor-sharp picos de loro barnacles. Expect a busy line-up, especially at weekends, when local surfers rule the roost.
Access
Parking is roadside and restricted, so plan on that being the limiting factor rather than turning up and expecting a space.
