El Silencio surf guide

El Silencio is a surf spot located in a secluded cove, well-known among locals but not overly crowded. The vibe here is pretty chill, and the mix of rocky reef and sandy beach makes it a unique place to catch some waves. In the summer, the beach can get packed with visitors, but the surf area tends to stay less busy since there are better spots nearby. It's a perfect place to relax after a session, with plenty of good food options in the area.

The waves at El Silencio can be a bit inconsistent, but when the conditions are right, you might find some good rides. The optimal swell direction is NorthWest, and it tends to handle swell sizes around 3 ft (approximately 0.9 m). The right breaks are more likely to form over boulders, especially on moderate South or better yet, W-NW swells. The rights can start off sucky over sharp rocks but will then fatten out on the shoulder before closing out on the sandier inside. If you’re lucky, you might catch some lefts at the southern end. This spot is best for intermediate surfers, and it usually works best with a mid tide and a NorthEast wind.

Keep an eye out for the rocky areas that appear at low tide and be cautious of the urchins that are often present amongst the boulders. While it does attract a few spongers, the spot remains relatively quiet compared to other surf locations. Overall, El Silencio can be a fun place to surf if the conditions line up right.
