Overview
Shela is a beachbreak running along a hotel-lined shore backed by a virtually endless stretch of rolling sand dunes. It breaks over sand and peels both left and right, and it ranks among the more consistent beachbreaks in the area.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from east through southeast, with southeast (SE) the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and tends to be bigger toward the south end. Consistency is moderate, so waves show up fairly often rather than every day.
Wind and Tide
Because Shela faces south, it is often onshore, so aim for a northwest (NW) offshore wind. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly, beginner-friendly stretch, and the lineup usually stays quiet. Keep an eye out for currents and wildlife near the rivermouth.
