Sokehs Pass is a right-hand reef break that peels over dead coral. The outside serves up small, rideable rights, while the inside stays treacherous and never gets easy, so the makeable waves are the ones out the back.
When It Works
The reef pulls in swell from west through north to northeast (W-N-NE), and it lines up best on a northwest swell. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft, with those outside rights coming to life around the top of the tide. Consistency is moderate, so count on worthwhile windows when the setup lines up rather than waves on every swell.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast offshore wind to clean it up. The rights need water on the reef, so high tide is the call, and a rising tide is the better window.
Local Tips
Sokehs Pass suits intermediate surfers who are comfortable taking on a reef right. Expect a fairly quiet lineup when it's breaking.
Access
Getting there is the easy part: it's only a 5-minute boat ride from the Pohnpei Surf Club (PSC).
