Solawi surf guide

Solawi is a small, tropical surf spot known for its well-formed fringing reef. It's located around a laid-back area that feels pretty secluded, making it a nice escape for surfers looking for decent waves without the usual crowds. The place generally offers a mix of both lefts and rights, depending on the wind and swell direction, which gives surfers a bit of variety on any given day.

The waves at Solawi work best with southwest swells and can also handle south and west swells. You'll find that the surf can be enjoyable with wave sizes around 3 to 8 feet (about 1 to 2.5 meters). The left-hand waves here are often chunky, with some fun tube sections when the conditions are right, particularly under southeast winds. If the wind shifts to the north, there are right-hand waves at the southern part of the island that can make for an interesting session. For the best experience, aim for low to mid tide or even high tide. Keep in mind that this spot is more suited for intermediate surfers, as the reef breaks can be a bit tricky.

Besides the main waves, if youโ€™re feeling adventurous, check out Hidden Lefts on the mainland or Sibarubaru Rights on the nearby small island heading south for some additional surfing options. Each spot has its own vibe, so itโ€™s worth exploring a bit if you have the time.
