Overview
South Narrabeen is a long crescent of beach break that peels both left and right over sand. The waves are hollow and very fast here, often quick enough to close out, but every so often the straighthanders hold up long enough for a bit of tube time and maybe a turn or two.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with southeast (SE) the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft and tends to be moderately consistent, so you'll get worthwhile windows when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore to clean things up, and any west wind is a good sign here. It breaks through low, mid, and high tide, but your best chance comes around mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
South Narrabeen suits intermediate surfers well. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
Access
Parking is easy to sort out, with car parks near the Waterloo St shops and roadside spots along the many dead-end streets nearby, in a mix of free and paid options. Restrooms, showers, and a surf shop round out the setup.
