Southerndown is a beachbreak at Dunraven Bay, serving up decent peaks that break both left and right over sand. There's some reef potential in the mix too, and the setup can be rippy and rocky, so it pays to read the water before you paddle out.
When It Works
The break draws swell from the southwest through west (SW-W), with southwest (SW) the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to clean things up. Southerndown works on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Access
Park at Southerndown village and walk down to Dunraven Bay. There's a car park with paid parking, along with restrooms and a lifeguard on hand.
