Surfside Jetty is a sand-bottom right-hander that peels next to the jetty on the Texas coast. When it lines up, you can jump off the end of the jetty and drop straight into the longer, cleaner walls as they wrap in.
When It Works
The break draws swell from southwest through southeast, with a south swell the best match. It really comes alive on bigger south, and even southwest, swells, when the lines wrap in longer and cleaner around the jetty. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it is only moderately consistent, so you will want to time your sessions around the better pulses.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind to clean things up. A bit of southwest wind protection is a rare bonus here when the wind swings that way. The spot works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The gentle sand-bottom right makes this an approachable wave for beginners. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it is working properly. Keep an eye out for rips near the jetty, though the paddle-out channel alongside it can help you get out the back.
