Taito surf guide

Taito is a popular surf spot known for its welcoming atmosphere, especially for beginners. It's mainly a beach break that can get pretty crowded, particularly on days with smaller northeast to southeast swells. The vibe here tends to be laid-back, with plenty of longboarders sharing the waves. When the conditions are right, Taito can offer decent rides, so it's worth checking out if you're in the area.

This righthand jetty break works best with southeast swells, but you can also ride it when the swells come from the northeast or south. It handles swell sizes starting from around 1 ft (0.3 m) and can produce steeper, faster waves when it gets overhead. The waves break over sandy bottom, making it a bit more forgiving for those still learning the ropes. The preferred wind direction is southwest, which can help produce cleaner conditions. It works well during low, mid, and high tides, providing flexibility for surfers looking to get in the water.

If you plan to hit Taito, be ready to share the lineup with other surfers. It’s a popular spot, so don’t forget to be mindful of others around you. The channel beside the tetrapods offers an easy way to exit the water, which comes in handy when you’re done with your session or need a breather. Overall, Taito has something for everyone, especially if you're just starting your surfing journey.
