Takezaki is a beachbreak on the south coast, a little west of Hotel-mae. It's dotted with A-frame peaks, including named ones like 'Stack' and 'Pavilion-mae', that hand out long rides when the sandbanks are good. There are also reliable sandbars next to the rivermouth groynes to the south, so there's usually a peak worth chasing.
When It Works
Waves break over sand and peel both left and right, and the spot is consistent enough to be worth checking regularly. It draws swell from east through south to southwest, with southeast (SE) swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and the long, workable rides really turn on when the sandbanks are lined up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to clean things up. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The gentle, sandy peaks make this a friendly spot for beginners. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
Access
You'll need a 4WD to get in, since the track passes through the 'jungle' to reach the beach, which also helps keep the crowds down. Once there, parking is free, with roadside spots available.
