Overview
Teavapiti is a reef pass that peels both left and right over live coral. It sits on the east coast next to the neighboring Faroa pass, and the two share the same open, exposed setup.
When It Works
The pass draws its swell from the northeast to southeast window, feeding mostly on windswell. That makes it an erratic performer, so it pays to catch it on the right day rather than expecting it to be on. It comes into range from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest offshore wind to clean it up. The reef can break across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
You'll almost always have this one to yourself. Hardly anyone surfs these east coast passes, so expect an empty lineup when it turns on.
