The Leap surf guide

The Leap is a surf spot located in Samoa, and it's known for some pretty intense waves. Access to The Leap is only by boat, which means you’ll likely find it uncrowded most of the time. It’s a unique spot that offers a different experience compared to more popular surf locations.

This spot really shines with Southeast swell, which is what you want to look out for. It handles swell sizes starting from 3ft (about 1 meter) and can go much bigger. The waves roll in over Live Coral, providing a reef break that works best on mid to high tides. You’ll be riding lefts here, making it essential for expert surfers to tackle the powerful wave potential. If the wind is blowing from the Northeast, you’ll be in for a treat, as it helps to create glassy conditions that are ideal for catching waves.

While you’re out there, keep in mind that The Leap is best suited for experienced surfers due to its demanding nature. You’ll want to be cozy with some serious wave riding skills to take on what it has to offer.
