Three Cliffs Bay is a beautiful bay where a stream sculpts the sandbanks into a river-mouth break that peels both left and right over sand. It needs a big swell before it really gets going.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from southwest through west (SW-W), with a southwest swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, though it can be somewhat inconsistent and really wants a big swell to come to life.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north offshore wind. The wave breaks on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate wave, and the bay gets very rippy, so come ready to handle strong currents. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
Access
Park by Penmaen, where there's a car park with free parking alongside roadside parking, then make the long walk in. Watch for nasty rips, and expect to see climbers scaling the sea cliffs.
