Overview
Tiburon Reefs is a scatter of reef waves out on the tip of the peninsula, just south of the town of Tiburon. Lefts and rights break over an uneven reef, with some left slabs among the options.
When It Works
The reefs pick up swell from east to south (E-S), and southeast (SE) is the direction to look for. This is a summer setup, so time your visit with a swell between May and September. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Consistency is moderate, so it pays to catch it on the right day.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind. The reef works through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a quiet lineup when it's on.
Access
A decent coastal road skirts the reef, so access and parking are both roadside. The good road runs all the way through the colourful town of Tiburon before a mountain track weaves around the west coast, where exposure to southeast swell ends.
