Toilets - Pacific City Surf Forecast Guide

Toilets is the beachbreak straight out from the main Pacific City parking lot, breaking over sand in front of a stretch of user-friendly peaks. The number of peaks south of the cape varies, and as the tide shuts one down another usually starts up just next door. The mellow banks right in front of the lot make it a good option for beginners, longboarders, and the whole family, while the peak straight out, Toilet Bowl, is where the spot gets its name.

When It Works

It draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with northwest the best direction. This is a consistent break that works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft and offers both lefts and rights. Spring and fall tend to bring the best conditions.

Wind and Tide

Look for east offshore wind. Toilets breaks across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

Expect a busy lineup that gets more crowded each year, though the forgiving peaks in front of the lot still suit beginners. Each August the beach hosts a surf contest that pulls in the Northwest surf community. Keep an eye out for possible shark danger, along with jetskis and dory boats, both of which are permitted to launch from the beach.

Access

Pacific City is a State Park with a car park and free parking, but space is limited and typically fills by 10am on spring weekends, earlier in peak summer. Onshore you'll find restrooms, camping, and a surf shop.
