Overview
Topsy is a beach-style break that peels both left and right over a mix of uneven reef and sand. The waves tend to be soft and forgiving rather than punchy, giving it a mellow, easygoing feel.
When It Works
Topsy draws swell from west to north (W-N), and it lines up best on a southwest swell. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.5 m / 5 ft and stays moderately consistent, so there are worthwhile windows when the setup lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind to clean it up. It can work through most of the tide, from low to high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners finding their feet. Longboarders do especially well here, since the fat, mushy sections carry nicely and tend to stay less crowded. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
