Tregualemu is a left-hand point that peels over a mix of rock ledge and sand, throwing fast walls in front of a rivermouth. It holds lefts in swells up to 15 ft (5 m).
When It Works
The point draws swell from south through west, with southwest (SW) the best match. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. Consistency is moderate, so this isn't a spot you can count on every day, but when the sand lines up you won't have many others out with you.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind. The point can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The fast walls here suit expert surfers. Expect a fairly quiet lineup when it turns on.
Access
Getting in takes a bit of effort: the track to the beach is private, so ask for permission or walk down the beach from 1 km to the north. Parking is restricted.
