Overview
Tsuyazaki is a right-hand pointbreak that sits next to Tougou Park and Kitakyushu Hospital, and when it turns on it is a genuinely good wave. Take-offs can throw a tube, and from there the wall stays playful for up to 100 metres. It all happens over an uneven reef, which is what keeps this one off the list for beginners.
When It Works
The point picks up swell from northwest to northeast, and north swell is the match you want. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.5 m / 5 ft. Tsuyazaki can be inconsistent, so it rewards paying attention when a north swell lines up rather than showing up on spec.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind. The point can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate wave, mostly because of that uneven reef under the take-off. Expect a busy lineup when it is working.
