Overview
Tynemouth - Eddies is a sheltered beachbreak tucked into a cove just south of Longsands. The sandbars here shift around, and when they line up they can throw out genuinely good peaks, breaking both left and right.
When It Works
The bars pick up swell from the north through east-northeast to southeast, with a northeast (NE) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, giving a decent window of usable size. Everything breaks over sand, so how good it gets comes down to how the banks are sitting.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore wind to clean up the faces. On the tide, low tide is the pick, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Access
There's a car park right above the beach, with free, paid, and roadside parking all within reach. A surf shop rounds out the setup.
