Overview
Union is an easy-to-reach beachbreak near the mouth of the estuary in Lanuza Bay. The bay is shallow, and the run from Cantilan to Lanuza is lined with mushy beachbreaks, with Union the most accessible village of the bunch. Waves break over sand and peel both left and right.
When It Works
Union draws swell from the northeast through east, with northeast swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft. Consistency can be hit or miss, so expect to score it on the right day rather than any time you turn up.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest offshore wind. The beachbreak can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The soft, forgiving waves make Union a friendly option for beginners. The lineup stays fairly quiet, and more often than not you'll have the peak to yourself.
