Vaddo is an island located north of Stockholm. It offers several surf breaks, including Mats Väg, which is known for its decent left-hand waves. The spot doesn’t get surfed often, as it only breaks a few times a year, and when it does, conditions can be quite chilly. Surfers should be prepared for a cold adventure.

The waves here can handle swell sizes starting from about 2ft (0.6m) and are best when the swell comes from the North or Northeast. The wave breaks over uneven reef and offers a point setup, predominantly breaking left. It’s important to note that Vaddo needs a strong north wind of 15 m/s or more to work well, but the big cliff nearby provides some shelter from the wind. The small take-off zone and strong current can make it tricky to position yourself, so some intermediate skills are needed to get the most out of the waves. The spot works well at any tide; low, mid, or high tides can offer different options.

Even though it's not the most reliable surf spot, Vaddo can produce hollow waves up to head high when conditions align. The surf experience here can be a bit of a challenge due to the positioning and current, but for those who are up for it, it’s definitely worth checking out when the swell is right.
