Vivier is a reef break with two distinct waves: a right-hander at low tide and a left at high tide, both breaking over uneven reef and boulders. Each one can turn hollow when it's on. The reef is littered with rocks and sea urchins, so treat it with respect.
When It Works
Vivier draws swell from southwest through northwest, and it's a good southwest swell that the high-tide left needs to fire, which is when the bodyboarders turn up. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft and tends to be moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. The right favours low tide and the left comes in at high tide, so it can break through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an experts-only wave given the shallow reef and exposed rocks. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's good.
