Overview
Volta da Jurema is a bustling stretch of sand-bottom beachbreaks that peel both left and right. It strings together a run of well-known peaks including Praia do Nautico, Jacqueline, Apito, Iracema, Meireles and Diarios, so there's usually a bank to choose from. The waves are fun for every ability, and it's rare to find the place empty.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from north through east-northeast to southeast (N-ENE-SE), with a north swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it stays moderately consistent, so decent windows turn up fairly often when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south offshore wind to clean things up. The banks work through low, mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is friendly, beginner-suited surf, and the lefts and rights give plenty of room to pick your peak. Expect a busy lineup when it's on, since the beach rarely sits quiet.
Access
There's plenty on hand along the front: restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, a surf school and a surf shop. Parking is easy too, with a car park plus free, paid, metered and roadside options depending on where you pull in.
