Wind Point is a sandy beach break that peels both left and right right in front of the lighthouse. This is the Racine area's easterly-facing option, catching all the E wind and swell variations across a set of uncrowded peaks. One thing to keep in mind: the water here can suffer from pollution tied to nearby heavy industry and a power station.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northeast through southeast (NE-SE), and it lines up best on a northeast swell. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so there's a decent working window once something is in the water. Consistency is the catch here, as it can be somewhat inconsistent, so it pays to time your session to a good forecast rather than turning up on spec.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest offshore wind to clean up the faces. The bank can work through most of the tide, spanning low, mid, and high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, with mellow lefts and rights over sand. The lineup stays fairly quiet, so you can usually find space to work on your surfing without much competition for waves.
