Xing Tan Wan is an exposed beach break near Wanning that peels both left and right over sand. The sandbars here run fairly straight, but small streams can cut a channel through them and give the banks a little more shape.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from northeast through east, with a northeast (NE) swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it stays a consistent option whenever there's swell in the water.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west (W) offshore wind to clean things up. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The sandy, forgiving bottom makes this a comfortable spot for beginners, and the lineup usually stays quiet.
Access
Getting here is the hard part, since the break is tricky to find through the muddy rice paddies. Once you reach it, there's free roadside parking.
