Yakutsu is a fun beachbreak that peels over sand, throwing up both lefts and rights. It comes alive on typhoon and winter swells and can handle a solid size when they arrive.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with southwest (SW) the best match. The bigger, better days tend to land during typhoon season and winter, when SW-W groundswells push in. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and with moderate consistency you can count on worthwhile windows rather than waves on demand.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind. Wind direction is the make-or-break factor here: without some south in it, the surf often turns into a blown-out mess. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
