Yala Rights is a right-hand point that peels over sand inside Yala National Park, part of a huge and largely unexplored stretch of coast. This is solo surfing for those willing to go the extra mile to reach it.
When It Works
The point draws swell from south through north (S-N), with southeast (SE) the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. The area is consistent, staying that way until the midday sea breeze sets in, so mornings are the window to aim for.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west (W) offshore wind to clean it up. The point can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. Expect a quiet lineup, often just you and whoever made the same effort to get out here.
Access
The break is reached by boat from Kumana. Ask the Rangers about surfing Yala Rights, and be ready to pay an entry fee and hire a jeep to make it happen.
