Overview
Yoff Beach is a mellow, forgiving beachbreak just north of N'gor, breaking over sand and offering up both lefts and rights. Long lines of crumbling whitewash roll in over a slowly shelving bottom, which keeps the wave less challenging than a lot of what's around.
When It Works
When there isn't enough swell to wrap around the Almadies Cape, Yoff comes into its own and consistently picks up most of the swell on offer. It draws swell from southwest to north (SW-N), with northwest (NW) the best match, and it's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Overall it tends to be moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind. It works through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
With its gentle, slowly shelving whitewash, Yoff is a friendly place to learn and a solid pick for beginners. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on, since it's a popular beach.
