That range means at least one corner is usually catching something, even when the surf elsewhere in northern Peru goes quiet.
Most of the surf spots in Lambayeque are spread across a handful of small coastal towns. Pimentel, a laid-back beach town known for its long wooden pier, anchors the scene, while Puerto Eten, Lagunas, Capilla, and La Cruz del Faro each add their own peaks nearby. Notable spots include Las Rocas, Pimentel, and Playa Calanloche, a mix that leans toward sand-bottom beach breaks with an uneven-reef point folded in for surfers wanting a longer wall.
Conditions here reward an early start. Wind off the northeast blows offshore and cleans up the faces, so dawn sessions before the sea breeze fills in tend to be the reliable call. The waves work through most of the tide, with low and mid producing the most peaks and high still holding up at a few spots, which gives you flexibility when planning around a swell. Size-wise the region comes alive on modest pulses from around a foot or two and stays rideable up to well overhead on the bigger days.
For ability, Lambayeque skews approachable. There are gentle, beginner-friendly options among the beach breaks alongside punchier intermediate waves, so it suits surfers still finding their feet as well as those wanting a bit more push. The sand-bottom setups in particular make for forgiving wipeouts and easy paddle-outs.
If you are chasing the cleanest conditions, focus on the morning offshore window, target low to mid tide, and watch for west-to-southwest swell lining up the better banks. It is a relaxed, spread-out coast rather than a single marquee break, and that is part of the appeal: room to explore a few towns, find an empty peak, and surf without a crowd.
