Overview
5th Street is a Florida beach break that pulls in good sandbanks thanks to its spot close to the jetty. It breaks over sand and offers both lefts and rights, with longer lefts on tap when a north to northeast swell is running, plus the occasional right. On bigger swells, an outside dead coral reef can start to break.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from north through east-northeast to southeast (N-ENE-SE), and it's at its best on a northeast (NE) swell. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and if there's any swell around at all, it'll be breaking.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west (W) offshore wind. The break works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. Lower tides tend to throw hollower waves.
Local Tips
This is a beginner-friendly wave, but be ready to share it. Whenever there's swell, expect a crowded lineup.
Access
There are restrooms, showers, and a lifeguard on hand. For parking, you'll find a car park along with paid, metered, and roadside options.
