Overview
Airports is a left-hand reef break in the Maldives, peeling over dead coral.
When It Works
The wave comes alive on south to southwest swell, with southwest the best direction. A strong south-southwest pulse is what really turns on the good lefts here. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind to groom the wall. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers.
Access
Charter boats in the area tend to head straight for Beacons, roughly two hours away, at the first southern reef pass, so Airports often gets passed over.
