Overview
Al Marsa sits around Laayoune Beach, the main harbour here, where two big jetties reach as far as 3 km out and, together with several secluded beaches, offer some shelter from north winds. It breaks over a mix of rock ledge and sand, with waves peeling both left and right across a handful of named peaks. Roy is a right that comes alive on smaller swell, Jo Left holds size and barrels, and Margot breaks along a rock spit.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from west through north, with northwest (NW) the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. On the smaller days Roy is the one to look for, while Jo Left comes into its own as the swell builds, holding size and throwing barrels.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east (E) offshore wind to clean things up. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
