Bayah Reef surf guide

Bayah Reef is a surf spot located behind the eastern headland. It features a rocky outcrop of reef, creating a wave that you don’t see many surfers tackling. This spot is known for being a bit under the radar, so you might find some peace out here. While it’s not the most talked-about surf location, it does offer decent options, especially with the right conditions.

The waves here tend to break to the left over some uneven reef, and the best swell direction is from the west. It can handle swell sizes around 4ft (about 1.2 meters), making it suitable for intermediate surfers. You’ll find that the wind is best from the northeast, adding to the ride. This spot works well across low, mid, and high tide, which gives you some flexibility in your surf session. Just keep in mind that after rains, the nearby rivermouth might wash some debris into the water, so check your conditions before heading out.

If you're looking for a more laid-back session, Bayah Reef can provide that. It's not overly crowded, which means you can enjoy the waves without too much hassle. Just remember, while it can be fun, it’s not the most consistent spot out there, so be prepared for some less-than-stellar days.
